Despite being 12 years old, Georgie lives alone. In the absence of a 'responsible adult', she has built a happy, self-sufficient life for herself on an estate in North London - playing money up in the stairwell and surviving on fizzy drinks and sweets. Even though she doesn’t quite fit in with kids her own age, Georgie sees her modest home as a world of fun, colour and life - all she needs to do is stay under the radar of social services. When her charismatic dad, Jason, turns up - fresh home from a lengthy prison term - Georgie’s life is turned inside out. She’s never known him - he went away when she was a baby - but suddenly she has someone to protect her, someone to make everyone else realise she’s worth having around. Georgie clocks that Jason is very similar to her - he has a quick wit and is bored easily, an overgrown kid - but this soon leads to more troubling questions. If they’re so alike, why did Jason go to prison? And is he the same man today?
